About Me.

A Men’s Health Expert & Specialist In Testosterone

I am Director of Men’s Health at Manual, founder of H3 Health, and a senior NHS GP Partner.

I’m passionate about improving health outcomes for men, and have a specific interest in the area of hormone health, specifically low testosterone in men.  I am heavily involved in both teaching and health promotion and am a committee member of the British Society of Sexual Medicine, having been a recent co-author for the 2023 national guidelines on testosterone deficiency in men.

Men’s Health

What do we mean by men’s health?

Despite men having the run of medicine and healthcare for centuries, we don’t seem to be very good at it.  Both men and women are now living longer, but the mortality-age gap is not closing and on average,  men still do less well than women in all almost all aspects of disease, dying first from a range of different medical conditions.  Overall, health outcomes are improving in nearly all demographics but on average one in five men still die before the age of 65.  This is why addressing Men’s health holistically is so vital in improving health outcomes for men.

TREATING EVERYONE AS AN INDIVIDUAL

“My husband and I have both consulted with Dr Foster. He is at all times caring and professional, listening carefully and taking the time to ask questions to get to the heart of the problem. He has treated a variety of health issues for my husband including skin problems and arthritis in addition to specific men’s health concerns. We both feel that we receive a level of care from Jeff that we have not experienced before and do not hesitate to recommend him.”

MAN ALIVE: THE HEALTH PROBLEMS MEN FACE AND HOW TO FIX THEM

Being a man is bad for your health. Not only do men have a greater chance of getting almost every illness but they die sooner too: one in five men die before the age of 65. So why do so many men still accept poor health as a consequence of ‘just getting older’.

In MAN ALIVE, Dr Jeff Foster, men’s health specialist and private GP, examines the most commonly misunderstood aspects of men’s health, such as testosterone deficiency and ‘male menopause’, heart disease, diabetes and mental health. He also looks at conditions related to male anatomy and physiology, including erectile dysfunction and prostate disease, with advice on what symptoms and signs to look for, how to self-examine, and when to consider seeing a doctor. Dr Foster covers problems to do with lifestyle too, including obesity, poor sleep, bad nutrition, and lack of exercise, and he examines the evidence for specific health claims – busting plenty of myths along the way.
